The Martlets get a grant

The Martlets Hospice in Hove have been awarded a grant of £367,860 from NHS England to improve their facilities.

NHS England awarded 176 grants to hospices across England to improve the physical environments in which they provide care.

The Martlets will use their grant to implement the ‘Renaissance Project’ project which will create the Martlets Therapeutic Suite. This will include a lounge, activity room, garden room and a cafe to accommodate its growing community services.

A Welcome Suite will be built at the hospice’s main entrance so that ambulances can park more easily and safely and to provide better shelter and access for patients and their visitors.

Caroline Lower, The Martlets Hospice Chief Executive Officer said:

*“We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded this grant, which will help us to better support people with terminal illness in Brighton & Hove together with their families. The two suites will deliver improved access to better quality services and facilities. The Therapeutic Suite will support more people living in the community, and the Welcome Suite will provide safer access into our main entrance for everyone.” *
