Save a Life for Your New Year's Resolution

What is your New Years Resolution for 2013? The NHS Blood and Transplant are suggesting that for our New Years Resolution we should Save a Life by giving blood in 2013.

In 2012, there was a decline in the number of young people who signed up to give blood. Through their Save a Life for Your New Years Resolution campaign the NHS Blood and Transplant aims to get 100,000 new donors in 100 days to make sure future blood stocks are not in trouble.

New Year's resolutions have become a bit cliche over the past few years as people always set themselves up for big challenges they are unable to complete says NHS's donor relations manager for the South East, John Canning said,"Our challenge is a simple one plus we can guarantee donors a warm welcome, a hot cup of tea and a biscuit to help boost their sense of achievement not to mention the satisfaction of knowing that they are helping sick and injured people in local hospitals with each and every donation they make."

The blood donation sessions in 2013 will be able to be booked by appointment.

You can give blood if you are between 17 and 65 and if you weigh more than 50kg (7 stone 12lbs). You must be in general good health to be able to start saving lives. There is no upper age limit for donors who have donated in the last two years.
