New form of fundraising for Burning the Clocks

Since 1994, Burning the Clocks has been a Brighton tradition that many people from Woodingdean go to watch every year. It celebrates the shortest day of the year, and is a way of celebrating the end of the old year and to welcome in the new. This year the parade will take place on ** Friday 21 December.

Today, over 2,000 people take part in the parade and over **20,000 **spectators come to watch.

The Burning the Clocks parade is partly funded by Brighton and Hove City Council but this year the company that organises the parade, Same Sky, are running a crowdfunding campaign to raise money for the fireshow and firework display. More Info

Crowdfunding is a way of fundraising that encourages each member of the crowd to give a small donation, who then let their friends know, who give some more until the crowd that love the event, also supports the event.

There are many ways in which you can help raise money for this years event. If you donate £10 to the * Burning the Clocks * website, funders can be part of the beach line up that passes the lanterns into the bonfire. If you donate ** £30 **, you will receive a personalised lantern and a place in the parade and if you donate £1000 you will be placed centre-stage when the bonfire is lit.

Another way in which you can support the Burning the Clocks procession is by purchasing special make-you-own lantern kits in Brighton and Hove shops. The Royal Pavilion Shop (5 Pavilion Buildings), Daisy Daisy (32 Sydney Street), The Wood Store (Circus Street), and The Book Nook (First Avenue, Hove) will all be stocking these special kits. Each pack costs £18 and the proceeds support the *Burning the Clocks *parade.

You can also support the event by visiting ** Boho Gelato ** (6 Pool Valley, Brighton) where special * Burning the Clocks *ice-cream is being sold - a chocolate, blood orange, cinnamon and fig flavour - with a donation from each sale going towards the event.

Or you can text ** "samesky clocks" ** to 70100 to done ** £1 **

There are regular buses that run from Woodingdean to Brighton City Centre, where the parade starts. * Burning the Clocks * finishes at 10pm. The last bus leaving the city centre to return to Woodingdean is just after 11pm.
