Comedian David Walliams Supports The Martlets Hospice

The Rotary Club of Brighton are organising an Art Auction in support of the Martlets Hospice. The auction, at 7pm on Wednesday 12 June at Brighton Museum, offers people the chance to bid for art by well known Brighton based artists, celebrities and sports stars.

However, to add an exciting twist to the auction, no one will know who the postcard-sized, original artworks are by.

Comedian, David Walliams, has been asked to draw a little something for the auction but has confessed ‘I can’t draw at all!’ The Britain’s Got Talent judge has instead sent a signed copy of his award winning book to be auctioned instead.

Tickets are just £5 and will be for sale on the door. This price includes a complimentary glass of wine. The artworks will be on display in the Founders Room from Friday 7 June and a selection will also be shown on the Martlets website. All bidding will take place at the event on Wednesday 12 June.

The artworks will be exhibited in the Founders Room adjacent to the Dome Bar. From the Museum there will be direct access into the Dome where Brighton Jazz Club will be entertaining throughout the evening.

Brighton Rotary Club is celebrating it’s Centenary and is hosting a number of events this year to celebrate. Brighton Rotary Club is one of nine in the UK to have reached this milestone. The Royal Pavillion & Museums Foundation is also supporting the event by hosting the evening. All proceeds will go to The Martlets Hospice who need to raise £8,000 each day to carry out it’s services.
