Carrying the Olympic Torch
Gavin Owen , Days Out Officer at Brighton & Hove Bus and Coach Company was delighted to hear that he had been selected to carry the Olympic Flame through Eastbourne on 17 July.
- I was really chuffed to be nominated to carry the Olympic torch by a friend in October last year and really delighted to find out in March that I had been selected. There are some really amazing people who are carrying the flame and it makes me feel incredibly privileged to be part of the event. I am really looking forward to the Olympics and am working as a volunteer Game Maker at the Paralympic games that are between August 15 and September 15. As a Game Maker I have been assigned the USA delegation. It will be my job to make sure that the entire group have an excellent time when they are here and get a great impression of our country at its’ best.*
Gavin was born and bred in Brighton, he is runner, who runs around 50k most weeks and has completed a number of Marathons raising money for a number of local good causes including, in 2010 Have a Heart for Heart FM. He is currently training for the 2013 Brighton Marathon raising money for the Martlets Hospice in Hove. He is a volunteer for Pride Brighton and Pride London.

- I am really looking forward to the Olympics, not just because of the games themselves but also because it is an event where the whole world comes together to watch people who excel at their sport come together and be the best they can – they are inspiring individuals. *
