Bupa care home Woodingdean
Bupa are investing over £7 million in a new care home in Woodingdean to be known as Dean Wood. The building is already underway at the site behind the Nuffield Hospital. This is the first Bupa care home to be built in Brighton and is expected to create more than 100 new jobs in the local area.
The care home will provide specialist nursing care for up to 80 people and has been designed to ‘create a positive environment for people living with dementia’. The Woodingdean care home is due to be completed in early 2013.
Pupils from Downs View School took part in a ground breaking ceremony on 29 April burying a time capsule in the new grounds. The time capsule contained items selected by the pupils that reminded them of their family and friends and of Brighton past and present
Mark Elliott, Bupa’s regional director said
*“The children have done a great job of burying a snapshot of the present day so a big thank you to everyone who helped make the day so memorable. This state of the art care home, which is a new investment for Bupa in the area, will provide much needed support and we welcome the opportunity to be part of the wider community to ensure Dean Wood offers a real home to residents of Brighton and surrounding areas.” *
Following the ceremony guests were taken to Downs View school for lunch and learnt more about the purpose-built care home and its specialist care facilities.
